Our founding team set out to build an automated trading system: a system that had to make decisions continuously, without supervision, in a live and hostile environment. Then came the black swan events — the market conditions no model anticipates. The system broke. We could add capability on top of it, or rebuild the foundation underneath. We chose the harder one, and spent years rebuilding from first principles. What we ended up with was a system that perceives a complex environment, interprets it, and acts. The environment happened to be a financial market. The same architecture applies to a factory floor, a hospital corridor, a construction site, a road network. We did not arrive at AI when it became fashionable. We arrived through years of building systems whose failures cost us directly.
